no matter how many times the new haven tides roll out
i expect them to push her back into my life on their return
life can't live long enough to erase time spent with that soul
and no amount of effort on my mind can make it happen again

where once I prayed for her, I pray to have stricken
from my heart,from my mind,my every asset of her knowing
love is no longer concerned; where memory lounges,lingers
reminding; reprimanding at its leisure; left over.

and so love or not

pup, pup, pup, pup
down the stairs I go
pup, pup, pup, pup
out the door I woe
pup, pup, pup, pup

they’ve no idea where I go
my friends beyond my door at home
my eyes capture their watching life
at times they’re not around

I look up to the winter birds
My bare feet feel the frozen earth
And spring misses my impression of footprints
But I understand that this is how it is
For this time of life.

So, I comfort the warmth of my feet in home,
Think of spring with ideas of smiles,
My time waiting well spent and curious,
And seeing eye to eye with those sounds above,
Those sights below,
My nature.
