"New York Times"

08/12/08

My friend Brook took me for a ride down by the riverside
She introduced me to her best friend Lyn
and together we started .. together we started
walking in the rain, puddles in the streets, clouds above our heads & times beneath
but we were together .. three together .. two forever

in every shade of gray Lyn could be and withstand her reinvention
cement park structures portray in contrast the passers by in top hats and tails
if you tried, she’d let you see them
walking in the rain, puddles in the streets, clouds above their heads & times beneath
and we were with them .. all together .. two forever

trees in the city streets light-white outlines filtering our views of high-rises
giant steps in city cement sidewalks watching where we go together
chaperoned in the rain, jumping in the puddles, clouds beneath our feet
New York times with Brook & Lyn .. forever together .. two forever

She let the seasons change to further shades of lighter gray between those other two
And walks me to the corner where Raphael’s cab is waiting
holding hands with Brook forever
